An effervescing preparation can be seen in the 87th session of the Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha (SSS) which will start from 7th till 10th February, 2018. The event will be at Pandit Raichahab Gopikaballav Goswami Samannay Khsetra, Dadhara Ahom Pathar, Dergaon. The reception committee (RC) headed by Pabitrapran Bora, Mrinal Saikia and Devanjan Bora as the president, working president and secretary respectively along with 35 other sub-committees is working to welcome more than 10 lakh devotees each day coming from the 51 district committees of SSS along with devotees from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Koch Bihar, Kameng and many more with a total budget of Rs1.90 crore has been allocated.

The session is likely to be attended by several scholars of different religions especially on Sankardeva’s ideals along with several ministers and leaders. A colourful cultural procession with the Bhagavat will be taken out on February 9. The dignitaries likely to take part in the session are the Governor of Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Rajen Gohain, Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, AASU leaders Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya, Lurinjyiti Gogoi among others. The main attraction of the cultural procession will be the Bhagavat Rath which will be 15 feet high, 35 feet long and 9 feet wide on the model of a naamghar with several pictures of the creations of Sankardeva.
