In a sensational incident, a suspected human trafficking racket has been busted at Piyalinagar in Moran by members of All Assam Tai Ahom Students Union (AATASU) and Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad (TAYP), on Tuesday.
The student bodies caught four persons red-handed for allegedly being involved in sexual activities. The suspects were residing at a rented house in the area.
Among the four, one is a 26-year-old boy identified as Mintu Das, and the other three are women, who have been identified as Maina Das (26 yrs), Sonjani Das (35 yrs) and Mamoni Begum.

As per official reports, Mintu, Maina and Sonjani hail from Sivsagar’s Jamunamukh Tiniali, whereas, Mamoni hails from Mangaldoi.
The members of the AATASU and TAYP alleged that they came to know that there was a trafficking racket being operated in the rented house, following which they took the initiative to nab the persons involved and later informed the local authorities.
Visiting the site, Nabajit Das, SI of Moran Police Station said, “We came here after receiving the information of human trafficking racket being operated. Three women along with a boy were caught by the student body member who was involved in the activity. We will be taking them to the police station for further interrogation.”
