Students bodies in BTAD demand to review the BTC Accord

Kokrajhar, December 6, 2018:

Many students union bodies on Thursday representing demanded to review the historic Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) accord for equal rights, distribution and upliftment of the communities in BTAD region in the state of Assam.

If not reviewed, the bodies have announced to launch a series of agitation programmes from December 10 in order to pressurize the government.

The announcement was made in a joint meeting of six- students bodies which includes All Koch Rajbongshi Students Union (AKRSU), All Adivasgi Students Association of Assam(AASAA),All BTC Minority Students Union(ABMSU), All BTAD Nath Yogi Students Union, All Santhali Students Union(AASU) and All Kalita Students Union.

Addressing the media, the student body leaders alleged that common citizens in the BTAD region are facing these problems due to lapse from the government and the BTAD administration.

The students union organizations have declared a series of protests agitation seeking equal rights, distribution and equal uplift in the region beginning from December 10.

Apart from this, a district level protest to be staged on December 14 in BTAD region and gherao the Raj Bhawan on December 21.
