Four suspected drug peddlers were apprehended by a team of Indian Army in Baksa's Goreswar on Saturday.
A police official said that the Army team apprehended the four during a routine patrol in Naramari at around 11 am. The official informed that the apprehended persons were identified as Prasanta Bora, Ratan Das, Binod Basumatari and Mausam Bora. All of them were residents of Guwahati.
The Army personnel also seized two knives, some pepper, a blank gun and some suspected drugs.
They have been handed over to the Goreswar Police and are currently being interrogated.
One of the accused claimed that they went to the area because they were invited for lunch by a friend.
It may be mentioned that earlier on Wednesday, the Bongaigaon Police seized suspected brown sugar and nabbed two suspected drug peddlers from Gurunanak Nagar in Bongaigaon district of Assam.
The police seized the suspected drug, inserted in 12 small containers and also 44 empty containers were recovered from the accused, who has been identified as Samad Ali (21 years) and Sahil Mandal (21 years).
The duo has been nabbed from a rented house at Gurunanak Nagar in Bongaigaon.
The police informed that they are both residents of Nadipar village of Bijni in Chirang district.
An investigation has been initiated in relation to the case and the due have been taken into custody.
