Asom Jatiyotabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad(AJYCP), Margherita Regional Committee, Digboi Regional Committee and Pengree Bordumsa Regional Committee on Saturday staged a protest at NH 38 in Margherita against the presence of Bangladeshi Buddhist Monk at Margherita Buddha Vihar.
AJYCP members gathered at the Central Field in Margherita and took out a protest rally chanting slogans against Margherita MLA, Bhaskar Sharma, Margherita Administration (Civil) and Margherita Police, for not taking action against the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

Kanchan Bora, General Secretary (I/C), AJYCP Tinsukia District Committee said, “Due to some so called Bangladeshi agent, Bangladeshi Buddhist monks have entered Assam, which is a threat to the indigenous Buddhist Monk of Assam and hence a conspiracy is afoot to settle these Bangladeshi Buddhist monks at Margherita Buddha Vihar."
The AJYCP states that under no circumstances they shall allow the entering of Bangladeshi Buddhist monks into Assam.
“At Margherita Sub division, many illegal coke coal Bhatta which are owned by Coal mafias have hired many suspected illegal Bangladeshi workers to work. As a result of this, crimes have increased at Margherita, which MLA Bhaskar Sharma, Administration (Civil) and Margherita Police should look into without any hesitation,” added Kanchan Bora.

Sanjib Ulup, Advisor of AJYCP Tinsukia District Committee said, “Assam is not a Green Field for illegal Bangladeshi Buddhist monks and other Bangladeshi people, where anyone who has entered Assam by illegal process, must go back to their homes in Bangladesh. The major problem of Assam is illegal Bangladeshis, who have been infiltrating Assam.”
The AJYCP has demanded Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to immediately take action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Assam.
The AJYCP further threatened to intensify agitations at Margherita, and also in some other parts of Assam.
