The coronavirus pandemic has gripped the country into an unprecedented migrant crisis. Thousands of migrants stuck in cities are trying hard to return to their homes with literally no income and savings. As reported by Inside Northeast, thousands of Assamese are still stuck in Chennai, who are trying to come back to their homes. As such, former Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Tarun Gogoi has penned down a letter to Assam CM Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, to discussed the problems that have erupted as a result of the economic fallout.
"I would like to draw your kind attention to the pathetic condition of lakhs of stranded people of Assam in different parts of the country. They have not only lost their jobs and livelihood but also whatever savings they had in their hands, have already been exhausted in last one and half month", wrote Tarun Gogoi.
Following the issue of workers stuck in different states, Health Mininster Himanta Biswa took stock of the situation by urging people to come back in moderation as it would hinder the quarantine preparations in today's press conference.
