Tarun Gogoi is in "very very critical" state, confirms GMCH Superintendent

GUWAHATI: Gauhati Medical and Hospital (GMCH) Superintendent today morning said that 3-time former Chief Minister of Tarun Gogoi is "very very critical" and "doctors are looking into it." Gogoi is suffering from multiple organ failure and has been put under ventilation.

The former Chief Minister, who has been suffering from post-COVID complications, has been admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he is currently under observation by a team of doctors which includes Abhijit Sarma, the Superintendent of the medical college.

Sarma, who has been observing the health condition of the Congress veteran even as he continued to be on life support. On November 21, he was put on intubation and ventilator even as Health Minister and former protege Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that the leader was battling "multiple organ failure."

A day later, Abhijit Sarma said that he was "critical but stable."  “Early in the morning today, Tarun Gogoi opened his eyes and motor movement was observed. Although he is critical, he is stable hemodynamically and we expect that he should come out of this very soon,” the GMCH Superintendent said.

Sharma further informed that Gogoi’s laboratory parameters have improved, adding that the “main reason for concern” is the lack of urine passage. The option of dialysis still remains on the cards. “However, there is no deterioration in his condition and laboratory results are good.
