Tinsukia, December 29, 2019:

“Won’t give tea seller PM Modi the tea state of Assam,” said Central Secretary, Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chhatra Parishad (AJYCP), Udyan Kumar Gogoi in Makum town’s peaceful protest gathering in Tinsukia district.

Several civil and social organisations of Makum town in Tinsukia district of Assam, on Sunday, joined together and conducted a protest rally demanding the scrapping of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

Udyan Kumar Gogoi said, “You sold tea and became famous across the world and we take pride in it. However, we would like to tell you that this is not your ancestral property, we will not let you sell off our tea state, Assam.”

Gogoi, in the Makum town's gathering, also said that the people of Assam would chase the government away if they did not stop harassing the public. “You should stop acting like the British. They were chased away by the Indians because of their wicked behavior and harassment. We would also do the same to you if you don’t stop the harassment,” he said.

It may be mentioned here that amid the countless peace rallies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in support the CAA, the people of Assam are displaying an even stronger resistance.

The AJYCP leader was quoted saying, “We are the sons of the Soil. We don’t want to be the second citizens. We urge the people who have been residing in Assam, be it Assamese, Bengali, Bihari, Marwari, Punjabi… that they wear our pride “Gamusa’ in the coming days in protest of CAA. I also request that people of Assam, instead of saying Hello, should say “Joi Aai Axom while answering a phone call.”

The Makum protest witnessed hundreds coming out against the implementation of CAA.
