The Union Ministry for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises released three months’ salary of the employees of Nagaon Paper Mill at Jagiroad and Cachar Paper Mill at Panchgram, under the of Hindustan Paper Mills Corporation. The centre has released the necessary fund to Hindustan Paper Mills Corporation required for paying the three months’ salary of the employees working in the two paper mills of the state.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, in a statement, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Sector Enterprises Anant G Geete for releasing the salary of the employees of the paper mills.
It may be mentioned that there have been massive protests by the employees of the paper mills along with unions and organisations regarding the issue of salary of the employees of the two paper mills. CM Sonowal had then pursued the matter with the centre for releasing the salary of the employees. It was also informed that the revival processes for both the mills have also started.
