Three Tokay Gecko smugglers held

Guwahati (Assam), Aug 26, 2018:

Three persons were arrested by the Hojai Police for allegedly trying to smuggle two Tokay Geckos from Hojai’s Ashinagar.

The police said the trio, Imran Husain, Baddar Uddin and Binoy Singhi, were arrested based on specific inputs about their involvement in a smuggling racket of such creatures.

“They told us during interrogation that they had bought the geckos from Bokolia in Karbi Anglong with the purpose of selling the reptiles to another party. We are investigating the possible involvement of other people in the racket,” the police said.
