The Hospital Authorities at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Civil Hospital in Tinsukia district of Assam have responded to the news that a man who was alive was mistakenly being kept in the morgue of the hospital for three days.
A communique issued by the Superintendent of the Civil Hospital states that Mohammad Hussain, aged 53, had been admitted to the hospital 31 July, 2019 at about 3 pm for "unconsciousness" and high blood sugar. The patient was allegedly an alcoholic and was advised CT scan of the brain, upon performing which, it came to light that he was suffering from a haemorrhage of the brain. He was subsequently referred to the Dibrugarh Medical College for treatment, hospital authorities said.

He was kept in an isolation ward, along with two other "serious" patients. However, one of them expired, and his corpse was kept in the ward itself until it could be removed as the hospital does not have a morgue.
Earlier, it had been reported that a 'dead body' that had been kept at the hospital morgue for 3 days had turned out to be alive. The report was carried by many electronic media platforms, and created wild sensation in the entire state.
