MARGHERITA: The family of the 12-year-old who was killed in a grenade blast in Assam's Tinsukia district on May 11 has been granted Rs 3 lakhs Ex- gratia payment by the Assam government today.
Earlier today, District Deputy Commissioner Diganta Saikia, Margherita Administration ADC in Charge Sampriti Goswami, Margherita Circle Officer Sunbar Chutia, Margherita MLA Representative Anand Kumar Sharma, Bhabesh Dutta, and among others visited the victim's house and gave the Ex- gratia to his family.

Suraj Hajong, the minor boy was mercilessly killed in a grenade blast that took place on May 11 around 8.30 am at Kotha Adarsha Gaon under the Jagun Police outpost of Margherita Sub Division.
Suraj Hajong lost his life in the blast when he was going for a bath in a nearby river.
Sources from Police said that miscreants abandoned the grenade at a roadside in Kotha Adarsha Gaon and suddenly it got exploded.
An inquiry into how it exploded and who placed the grenade is underway, according to police sources.
