Tinsukia Journalists’ Association Organises 2-day Event to Mark 'World Photography Day'

Tinsukia, August 18, 2019:

The Tinsukia Journalists’ Association has organised a 2-day event to celebrate World Photography Day at the Press Club here starting today.

A day-long workshop was organised by the association. It was inaugurated by the Journalists’ Association’s president, Rishi Das. Addressing the gathering, Das said that the people should promote the art of photography. “A photo speaks for itself. In today’s world, when the popularity of images is increasing, we should ensure to promote the art,” he said.

Well known photographer Ashwini Borkotoky was called in as the Chief Guest to train the participants of the workshop.

A photography exhibition will also be held in order to mark the event of World Photography Day tomorrow. Tinsukia Press Club Secretary, Pranab Phukan said, “The main event will have a Photography Exhibition and a contest. We have already received the entries for both. We have invited Superintendent of Police, Siladitya Chetia for the award ceremony.”

August 19 marks the beginning of the world's first online gallery. Almost 270 photographers shared their pictures and people from over 100 countries visited the website. The day aims to promote photography and inspire photographers across the world with a common purpose - to share their world with the world.
