Guwahati, November 4, 2018:

A four-member delegation of Trinamool Congress (TMC) lawmakers on Sunday visited the Kherbari-Bisonibari village in Dhola in Assam’s Sadiya police district where five people, all belonging to the Bengali community, were shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Thursday evening.

The TMC team, comprising MPs Derek O’ Brien, Mamata Bala Thakur and Nadimul Haq and MLA Mahua Moitra, spent time with the bereaved families before travelling back to Dibrugarh.

After arriving in Dibrugarh by an Air India flight in the morning, Derek O’ Brien told reporters they had come to the state as advised by their party chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“It was a dangerous act. We have come to be by the side of the bereaved families and give them all the support. And this movement will not end till we find out who did it and how they did it. Some poor Bengalis, who were Hindus, were called out of their homes and shot dead. We cannot accept this,” he said.
