Guwahati, March 30, 2019:

North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) under the Ministry of Culture from Saturday onwards have organized the Tribal Festival, 2019.

The two-days long programme will kick off at Patarkuchi, Sonapur and Sipajhar of Darrang district on 30th and 31st March 2019.

The festival aims to make special efforts to encourage tribal folk arts and to frame special programme for preservation including documentation and sustaining of the vanishing art forms.

The event will be held under the scheme of Sub plane of NEZCC which covers the programme in Tribal Areas of the region by conducting the special programmes for promotion of the tribal arts and crafts.

The tribal folk dances and musical program will be performed at Patarkuchi Youth Club Playground in collaboration with Patarkuchi Youth Club.

Various art forms will be presented followed by Bodo Dance from Rukminigaon Bodo Cultural group, Sonowal Kachari Bihu from Guwahati Sonowal Kachari Dance group, Karbi Kristi Dance from Patarkuchi Karbi group, Tiwa Dance from Khetri Tiwa Kristi Dol, Hajong Nritya from Chandrapur Hajong Group, Mishing Gumrag Dance by Khanapara Mishing. Popular singer Tapan Hazarika also perform at the festival.

The closing day of the Festival will be held in collaboration with SARSA group at Ghurabandha of Sipajhar to be followed by various tribal folk dances –Lalilang Dance, Bodo Dance, Karbi dance, Rabha Dance, Dhepa Dhol, Jhumur Dance, and Kuchan Nritya will be performed in the grand and colorful festival.
