Two cadres belonging to the separatist Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) and one linkman were apprehended by the Karbi Anglong Police personnel on Monday at Dhansiri in Bithangsi under the Diphu Police Station.
An operation was launched last night at Dhansri Outpost of Diphu Police station based on secret information that led to the apprehension of one hardcore DNLA cadre Ujjal Hojaisa alias Arnold (22), who is believed to be the same cadre who carried out the blast at Bakalia on the eve of the Lok Sabha elections.
Another cadre called Sana Singha (33) and one linkman Bikash Thapa (25), were also apprehended.
Two SBBL guns with 8 round cartridges, a lone grenade, a .32 pistol with 1 magazine and 5 round of ammunition and a .22 pistol with 1 magazine and 13 round ammunition were recovered from the DNLA members.
It may be recalled that the DNLA announced its formation just ahead of the Lok Sabha election in the Autonomous District Lok Sabha constituency, with a 36-hour bandh in – Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts of the state .
I a statement released during its launch, the the DNLA wants to "start the national struggle and fight for the liberation of a sovereign, Independent Dimasa Nation."
“We all are determined to our culture, language and historical right,” said Ringsmai Dimasa, information and publicity secretary of the group in the press statement .
The organisation has established a government-in-exile called Dimasa Peoples’ Supreme Council (DPSC).
