Assam Police have arrested the remaining two absconding prime accused in the Girish Dutta murder case on Friday.
The two convicts have been identified as Padma Chawrak (27) and Rukma Chawrak (25) both hailing from Petua Chawrak of Borgaon, under Barekuri Police Station.
An accused called Mintu Chutiya was earlier apprehended by police forces on June 4. Another accused called Bitupan Chutiya of Bekuri Borgaon was apprehended on June 6. Prime accused Bijut Chutia of Dengka Borgaon was arrested on June 7.
It may be mentioned that thirty-seven-year-old Girish Dutta, an Assam Police Commando, was brutally assaulted and repeatedly stabbed to death. Dutta was attacked with sharp weapons while he was returning from a programme, Kendriya Adhibeshan of Asom Moran Sabha and Moran Jatiya Mahila Parishad at Tingrai, Tinsukia.
When Girish Dutta was returning to his home in Ashok Nagar from Tingrai, he got into a heated argument with a group of unidentified people over an accident on NH-38, reported local media quoting investigating officers.
While he left the spot after the incident, the unidentified group of men followed Dutta to his home, dragged him out and stabbed him to death on the road in front of his father.
According to Tinsukia locals, Dutta was attacked while he was returning back home after attending the Kendriya Adhibeshan of Asom Moran Sabha and Moran Jatiya Mahila Parishad.
The sensational incident took place near the office of the 2nd Assam Police Battalion of Makum.
Subsequently, locals staged a protest in the area and blocked the National Highway-38. They have demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the brutal killing of the Assam Police commando.
