Based on corroborated intelligence input about the presence of two hardcore lady cadres belonging to the proscribed Nationalist Democratic Front of Bodoland- Songbijit (NDFB-S) outfit into Chirang district on 30 Jun 2019, a local Army Unit along with Assam Police launched a joint search operation in Budhikhamar near the Panbari Police Station near Chirang district of Assam.
The operation led to the apprehension of two NDFB (S) cadres namely, Rotima Borgoyary alias B. Rwmwi (Joint Secretary, Women Welfare and Instr of 42 Batch) a 40 Batch NDFB (S) cadre, and Juli Basumatary alias B. Jiri Jiri, a 42 batch NDFB (S) cadre.
The lady cadres were being inducted into Chirang from Nagaland to carry out recruitment of lady OGWs and train them.
Apparently, the lady cadres were about to link up with Batha/Bidai faction of NDFB (S) when they were apprehended.
The armed forces believe that the apprehension of these lady cadres has dealt a severe blow to efforts of top NDFB (S) leaders' plan to revive insurgency in Lower Assam.
It may be mentioned that on June 19, a trained lady cadre of Nationalist Democratic Front of Bodoland- Sangbijit (NDFB-S) called Rishima Narzary was apprehended in village Samudisha no 3 after a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army based on specific intelligence.
But the NDFB (S) released a statement stating that the suspected cadre was not aligned with their group in any way. However, the army released a statement saying that the insurgent group is trying to mislead the public.
