GUWAHATI: Reacting to the recent recruitment notice of the Oil India Limited (OIL), the United Liberation Front of Asom - Independent (ULFA-I) has urged the organisation for discrimination-free recruitment, and to give a chance to whosoever is "eligible and needy."

"Indigenous people of Assam have actual rights over the natural resources of Assam and to enjoy every benefit from the industries built based on these resources," said ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah issuing a release.

Baruah added further, "But in a recent recruitment notice, Oil India Limited has made candidates from Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar and Arunachal Pradesh's Changlang eligible for the recruitment process and deprived eligible candidates of other districts of the state. ULFA-I condemns such biased behaviour of OIL."

ULFA-I also urged the organization not to "fill a pot already filled" and to give a fair chance to each eligible indigenous candidate keeping the economic crunch of the people in view ."

OIL has issued a recruitment notice earlier this month for the post of 120 Junior Assistants from the districts of Sivasagar, Tinsukia, Charaideo, and Dibrugarh in Assam and Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh.

OIL's move has triggered controversy across the state of Assam and people have condemned this allegedly 'biased' move of the organization.
