A United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) cadre was arrested from Panjabari in Guwahati on Wednesday night ahead of the upcoming India-Sri Lanka cricket match and Prime Minister Modi’s visit.
The Guwahati Police nabbed the ULFA-I near Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra at around 9 pm and recovered a mobile phone and some incriminating documents from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Bitupan Sonowal, who hails from Kawoimari village of Dibrugarh’s Namrup.
Accorsing to reports, Bitupan, along with three other ULFA-I cadres, was planning to carry out blasts during the cricket match and PM Modi’s visit.
A case has been registered against the ULFA-I cadre with case no. 3355/18.

Bitupan has been sent to two days of police remand.
