The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) has “challenged” the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Assam Police to informed the people of Assam about the investigation findings related to secret killings of several people and whereabouts of Reboti Phukan.
The ULFA-I in a press statement said, “We the ULFA-I have noticed the NIA, a so called investigative agency under the colonial GOI has submitted a so called preliminary report on the killings that happened in Dhola and accused us for the incident. Our organisation made it clear that we are not involved anyway in the killing and again we vehemently reject this accusation.”
The statement further added that they challenge the NIA to inform the people of Assam on what ground and proof they are “accusing” the ULFA-I for the killings.
The statement further added, “It is well known fact that when the colonial GOI machineries are involved in any killings, the killers are never brought to book and in the name of investigation, the investigative agencies always deviate the minds of peoplem accuse other organisation like ULFA-I and the truth never prevails. We, therefore reject this report as this is a reflection of their propaganda, which is false and contrary to the facts.”
The statement further read, “If NIA and Assam Police to be so efficient, we challenge them to inform the people of Asom about the findings of their investigations with regard to the secret killings happened in Asom, killings of Parag Das, Lafiqul Islam and whereabouts of Reboti Phukan, whose fate till date is in dark.”
The ULFA-I also added, “There is no need to repeat how corrupt and immoral are the investigative agencies like RAW, NIA, CBI, CID and MI under the colonial GOI, Thoughm we feel IB is slightly different from the rest, however, they are not above suspicion as the recent row on bribery & corruption is a glaring example. NIA is not hoiler either. We along with the people of Asom have understood that the investigative agencies like NIA are being used as tools by the GOI and ruling BJP to fulfill their vindictive agenda.”
They further stated, “We would like to remind the NIA once again that way back in 2008, the investigative agencies preliminary report accused us for the serial bomb blast in Guwahati, however, the truth prevailed in the end.”
The lastly added, “On the other hand, through this press statement, we the ULFA-I would like to take the responsibility of the Demow incident in Sivasagar district that took place on 22 of Nov, 2018. Sooner or later sternmost consequences are obvious for those who betray us. Gupta was not our target, our hearts go to his family.”
