Changlang, August 25, 2019:

In yet another setback to the United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent), two cadres of the militant outfit were apprehended today at Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh.

The two ULFA cadres were apprehended by personnel of the Assam Rifles after a raid conducted in Lanka Basti in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The two apprehended cadres have been identified as Mintu Tati and Kaku Bora alias Rahu Asom.

A 9 mm pisot, along with live ammunition was recovered from the nabbed cadres.

Kaku Bora hails from Lakhimpur, whereas Mintu Tati hails from Dibrugarh district of Assam.

Recently, the ULFA came grabbed the headlines for using social media to spread its 'anti-India' message to the masses.

In the run up to India’s 73rd Independence Day, the organization had been accused of trying to spread ‘anti-India’ messages through social media, and recently, the security forces foiled a bid of the militant organization to upload an anti-national video on social media.

Official sources told Inside Northeast that once such posts come to the attention of the authorities, they are instantly marked, and forwarded to the cyber cell for review and action (if required).

The ULFA is said to be demoralized in recent times after the Myanmar army began operations to flush out Northeast Indian militants from Myanmarese soil.
