JORHAT: The non-talks faction of the United Liberation Front of Axom (ULFA) today expressed profound sorrow over the ferry accident at Nimatighat that has left at least one person dead so far.
Issuing a condolence message, self-styled captain Riju Axom expressed "deep sorrow" at the mishap.
Wishing a speedy recovery to those who were injured after the capsize, the ULFA (I) also mourned the loss of life and sent out it's condolence to the families of the departed.
The collision occurred when the private boat ''Ma Kamala'' was headed to Majuli from Nimati Ghat and the government-owned double engine ferry ''Tripkai'' which was coming from Majuli.
The rescue operation continues in Brahmaputra at Nematighat in Jorhat following the boat mishap. Chief Executive Officer of Assam Disaster Management Authority says, 2 persons are still missing while 87 persons have been rescued or swam to safety. One female passenger died.
