The United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) has sent two of its senior cadres for retirement on disciplinary ground. In a press release addressed to media houses, ULFA (I) vice president self styled Lt general Paresh Asom stated that the organization has sent its assistant cultural secretary Samiran Asom and self styled captain Lakhyajit Asom of the United Liberation Force of Asom (Independent) on retirement on disciplinary ground. Both the senior cadres have been sent on retirement with effect from August 3, 2020.
It may be mentioned that Assam Health & Family Welfare, Finance, Education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had recently said that the union home minister Amit Shah is keen to resolve the ULFA, and inter-state border issues in the Northeast.
Referring to his telephonic conversation with Shah, Sarma said, “We had discussed issues pertaining to enduring peace in northeast India.” Sarma said the Central Government is now holding discussions with the pro-talk faction of ULFA.
