The United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) ULFA (I) has urged the Assam government to call off this year’s Durga puja celebration in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. In a press release sent to media houses, the ULFA (I) stated that the organization has opposed the government’s decision to celebrate Durga puja though spiritually.
“The Assam Government had called-off the Rongali Bihu amid the coronavirus pandemic and now they have allowed to celebrate the Durga Puja which is not acceptable,” the ULFA (I) stated in the statement.

The banned organization stated that why the Assam government has allowed the puja committees to organize this year’s Durga puja amid the COVID-19 crisis. The ULFA (I) also urged the state government to call off the Durga puja celebrations this year.
The ULFA condemned the decision of the state government and said that the decision will increase the community spread of the pandemic.
