United Liberation Front of Assam leader Jiten Dutta has been sent to 14 days judicial custody for allegedly making provocative statements.
He was forwarded to judicial custody by the court of chief judicial magistrate, Kamrup (M).
Dutta was arrested by Sivasagar Police of Friday and was then brought to Guwahati for further proceeding over the Dhola killings incident. He was accused of making provocative, communal and inflamatory sentences which had resulted into a communal drift among certain communities in the state.
Many people held his speeches to be a reason for the Dhola killings which shook the state on November 1.
Although the prime suspects of the killings are the Paresh Baruah led ULFA-I, the faction claimed that they had no involvement in the crime. Currently, the police do not have any other suspect but the ULFA-I while certain organisations have claimed the whole incident to be a conspiracy by the government itself.
