United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) pro-talks faction has announced on Thursday that the outfit will not participate in the Lok Sabha elections following the delay of sorting out a final political solution on peace talks with the Government of India.
Speaking to InsideNE, Pro-talks ULFA leader, Arabinda Rajkhowa said, “We, the ULFA-I have decided not to participate in any election-related procedures until any political solution is reached regarding the Assam-India conflict. This decision will persist until and unless a final decision is made.”
He further added, “We appeal the general public of Assam to use their electoral power wisely. They should not vote politicians who took part in the activities to shove down ‘jaati dhongkhi’ agendas and moved from one party to another”, indirectly alluding to Himanta Biswa Sarma and his team who joined the BJP in 2015.
