ULFA warns OIL of dire consequences if locals not appointed

GUWAHATI: The United Liberation Front of Asom - Independent (ULFA-I) has declared that they will not hesitate to take arms against Oil India Limited (OIL) if they do not fulfill their demand to give permanent jobs to indigenous or local youths of Assam instead of contractual posts.

"We want to convey openly that we will not be left with any other option than starting armed rebellion against OIL if they keep on taking an anti-local stand by ignoring our urge to appoint local youths in a transparent manner," reads a part of the press communique released by ULFA-I.

ULFA-I has also urged the tea association APJ and few other local residents of Chabua not to fight over the historic polo field situated in Bishmile. ULFA-I also asked them to stop the mafia-like mindset regarding the land.

"Let the field stay as a playground and develop it as Children Park for their physical and mental growth," said ULFA-I.

ULFA-I also asked the Panitola Tea Estate authorities not to plant tea saplings on the playground near M.K. Shah Institution which they have already started and also warned the Tea Estate authority of dire consequences if they do not stop it immediately. The outfit said they will not tolerate further damage to the field.

By the end of the statement, ULFA-I clarified that though they have declared unilateral ceasefire due to the COVID-19 outbreak, their revolution will continue.
