Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to Visit Guwahati Tomorrow

Guwahati, August 28, 2019:

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be visiting Guwahati on Thursday along with MoS (Finance).

The Finance Minister will interact with the Direct and Indirect Tax officials and tax payers of the North Eastern Region.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also hold a press briefing at Hotel Radisson Blu in Guwahati at 3:30 pm.

It will be her first visit to the Northeast after being appointed as the Union Finance Minister.

It is to be mentioned that Sitharaman formerly served as the Defence Minister of India, thereby becoming India's second female defence minister and also the second female finance minister after Indira Gandhi, and first full-time Finance Minister. She has served as the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs under the Ministry of Finance and the Minister for Commerce and Industry with independent charge. Prior to that, Sitharaman served as a national spokesperson for the BJP.
