Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Tuesday reviewed the flood situation in Assam through an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas.
He was accompanied by State Minister Keshav Mahanta and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister of State Bhabesh Kalita, along with other officials.

The Union Jal Shakti Minister assured the state government that relief materials would be provided as requested.
It is to be mentioned that the flood situation in Assam continues to impact the people of the state and has now affected over 42 lakh people. The death toll has climbed to 15.
As per the latest update of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), approximately 42,86,421 people have been affected by the floods in the state.

As on July 15, 2019, a total 4,157 number of villages in 113 revenue circles of 30 district viz. Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Udalguri, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Hojai, Nagaon, Golaghat, Majuli, Jorhat, Sivsagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar, KarbiAnglong, Hailakandi, Karimganj of Assam have been affected by the floods.
Presently, 183 Relief Camps are operational in Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Baksa, Darrang, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Morigaon, Nagaon, Hojai, Golaghat, Majuli, Jorhat, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Cachar, Karimganj and Karbi angling districts with 83,180 inmates and 311 Relief Distribution Centres in the districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Nalbari, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Kamrup, Morigaon, Nogaon,Hojai, Golaghat, Majuli, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.
The water level of Brahmaputra at Neamatighat (Jorhat),Tezpur (Sonitpur), Guwahati (Kamrup), Goalpara, Dhubri; Burhidehing at Khowang (Dibrugarh); Subansiri at Badatighat (Lakhimpur); Dhansiri (S) at Numaligarh (Golaghat); JiaBharali at N.T.Rd.Xing (Sonitpur);Kopili at Kampur and Dharamtul(Nagaon), Puthimari at N.H.Rd.Xing (Kamrup); Beki at Rd. Bridge (Barpeta); Barak at A.P. Ghat (Cachar) and Badarpur (Karimganj); Katakhal at Matizuri (Hailakandi); Kushiyara and Sonkosh at Golakganj (Dhubri) have crossed the danger level.
NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) teams have been pressed into service in the flood-affected areas for search and rescue operation.
