Guwahati, July 20, 2019:

Bodo People's Front (BPF) politician Biswajit Daimary discussed the flood fury in Assam and stated that the Union Ministers have to informed about the damages incurred by the State, while addressing the Press at Kokrajhar on Friday.

Daimary stated that the Union Ministers have to be apprised of the flood situation in the State as they do not truly have minute details of the problem in the State.

"We have to alert them to the situation as the Union Ministers do not have enough information about the situation; they simply take a helicopter tour, see if people in relief camps are being fed, and then leave. However, they do not know that many people have lost their houses due to river sand deposited in houses, houses have been washed away due to erosion, schools have been damaged. Thus, we should relay this information with all the intricate details to the Union Ministers. High ranking officials, such as the Chief Secretary, should visit those places themselves and present the matter in a proper manner so that funds can be approved from the Centre", he advises.

The Rajya Sabha MP said that to get the required funds to rehabilitate the flood-affected, the Central Government must be informed about the total damages incurred by the people of the State. "We have to submit it promptly, then only we will get the funds that we require", he said.

Thanking Akshay Kumar for his contribution of Rs. 2 crores for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, Daimary said that: "Some people have not contributed, but I am not going to knock them because they have probably done something or the other to help Assam at some time", he said.
