The United Peoples Party Liberal (UPPL) has demanded a thorough CBI inquiry into large scale corrupt practices in different departments in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration by BPF elected representatives and officials involved. The party put emphasized for bringing good governance through the position of Governor’s Rule in the council as a tenure of BPF ruled BTC was come to end on 27th April last.

Speaking the reporters in Kokrajhar on Friday, UPPL secretary Raju Kumar Narzary and secretary of IT cell Kamal Azad have alleged that BPF elected representatives and officials in BTC administration have been indulging large scale of corrupt practices in their reign. They have demanded a strict and thorough CBI inquiry against the large scale scam practices in BTC administration in their over the 15-year reign. They accused of that BPF elected representatives were involved with a large scale of scams in different departments and development schemes which were meant for the common public’s welfare and development aspects in the council region.

The party leaders informed that party submitted a memorandum before the Assam Governor on May 12 and lodge a complaint with BTC administrator against the corrupt practices and put a demand for a strict CBI inquiry into the corruption in the BTAD administration.
The UPPL party leaders alleged that there are over Rs 75 crores large scale scams in the name of transportation for carrying charge of BTAD Gaon Panchayat Samabai Samiti Limited association workers under national food security mission in BTAD districts as association members are yet to get arrears of 42 months arrear amounts till today. They accused that BPF elected representatives and officials have involved with scams on large scale.

Narzary and Azad said that peoples from the council districts are deprived of their proper distribution and rights under the public distribution system (PDS) in their 15-year reign in the BTC council as BTC administration could not fulfill hopes and aspirations properly in the region. They have put allegations of multi-crore scams in different departments like Panchayat & Rural Development, illegal appointments in BTC administration without maintaining proper guidelines and procedures while appointing employees.
They have urged the Governor of Assam to take strict steps to check scams in different departments in the council to have good governance and corruption-free environment in the region.
The party leaders appealed all sections to maintain strict social distancing during the nationwide lockdown to combat the Coronavirus outbreak in the state.
