Guwahati, January 31, 2019:
The owner of the famous GL Publications, Ghisalal Agarwala, passed away on Thursday at 4:30 pm at his residence. The senior journalist hails from Assam and served as the chairman and MD of many popular newspapers including Amar Asom and Purvanchal Prahari, among others.
Agarwala, who was born in September 19, 1940 in Barpet, was suffering from prolonged illness at the time of his death. The veteran journalist as well as the writer underwent treatment in Guwahati’s Nemcare Hospital few months ago.
The sudden demise of the noted personality has shaken the political, social and intellectual spheres of Assam with the Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, AASU chief advisor Samujjwal Bhattacharya, Assembly Chairman Hitendra Nath Goswami and many other noted people conveying their deep condolences through social media.
