Voting yet to start in Dima Hasao polling station due to EVM malfunction

Haflong, April 18, 2019:

Five Lok Sabha Constituencies in Assam (out of 95 total in India) have headed out to the polls to participate in the largest festival of democracy in the world to elect their representatives. In Assam, a total of 69,10,592 are expected to cast their votes, but some of the electors are already facing problems due to the rampant problem of EVM malfunction in the state.

In Borolalbong L P school of Langting in the Dima Hasao district (which falls under the Autonomous Council Constituency), the EVM machine has malfunctioned and voting, which was expected to be underway at 7 am, has not started till the time of filing this report.

In pictures released from the sport, women electors can be seen waiting for the machine to be set right as they wait for their chance to cast their votes.

It remains to be seen how quickly the authorities will resolve this issue, but it is rather unfortunate that voters are having to face these kinds of obstacles in their bid to exercise their rights.
