Assam and Meghalaya are likely to witness extremely heavy rainfall in the upcoming days, according to official weather forecast.

Early in the morning on Sunday, many districts of Nagaland received heavy rainfall which has wreaked havoc across several parts of Dimapur. The situation is likely to remain grim in the Northeast in the next few days due to bad weather.

There have been reports of waterlogging at Super Market area, Zeliangrong colony, Bank colony, under construction road between Purana Bazar to Chumukedima, and several parts of Dimapur.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain, as withdrawal of monsoon has been delayed.

The All India Weather Warning bulletin, issued by IMD on September 28, has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in Nagaland from September 29 to October 2.

The IMD said that extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Uttarakhand, east Uttar Pradesh, west Rajasthan, Jharkhand, south Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

The Met department said that Assam and Meghalaya could witness extremely heavy rainfall on September 30, while places like Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, east Rajasthan, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Gujarat region may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on October 1.

On October 2, heavy rainfall has been forecast at isolated places over Kerala, Mahe, south interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, east Rajasthan, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
