DHUBRI: Assam Police has arrested two persons and recovered a huge quantity of banned Phensedyl cough syrup bottles, which were being hidden inside a pick-up van in Agomoni area of Dhubri district.
The pick-up van, bearing the registration number WB-63B-2232, contained four thousand bottles of the cough syrup.
The peddlers have been identified as Amir Hussain and Rofiqul Miya from Ghugubari that falls under Kotwali police station in West Bengal.

The police based on a tip-off, conducted a search operation on National Highway No.17 and recovered the bottles covered with sacks of rice on the top of the pick-up van.
Police informed that both the accused men have been supplying such addictive substances to the teenagers in various places of Dhubri town, suburb and rural areas for quite some time.
Aminur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Agomoni Police Station, said, “ We have registered cases against both the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and further investigation will be done.”
