TAMULPUR: Former Bodoland People's Front (BPF) Working President Biswajit Daimary who was recently inducted into the BJP ahead of the polls in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has expressed his desire to become either a Panchayat President or the VCDC Chairman to tackle the grassroots issues.
"I am not contesting the polls. If I am made the Panchayat President or the VCDC Chairman, that will be suitable so I can connect with the grassroots to figure out why the schemes rolled out by the Centre as well as State are not being implemented," Daimary said, adding, "If I made the President of the Panchayat or the President of the VCDC, I will be more than satisfied as I will be able to work with the downtrodden."
Daimary further asserted that the BJP, if it comes to power, will idealize PM Modi's vision in the BTC. "The BJP will ensure that all the schemes of the Centre are implemented properly in the region. The schemes are yet to reach some of the people and the BJP has taken responsibility to ensure that these are implemented. No other party has given such assurances. The BJP wants to bring the benefits to all the people irrespective of creed or community, which is why all the votes will be cast in favour of the party," he said.

The former Rajya Sabha MP also said that the BJP's victory in Goybari is a certainty, as the saffron party has made a host of promises to the people, including making Tamulpur a district.
Daimary also complained because the politicians are sself-centred, the people are not getting the Government benefits. "Because of this, none of the schemes have been properly implemented. The PMAY schemes, for instance, has not been implemented at all and many of the eligible beneficiaries shall not have their houses built."
Rubbishing the MP Naba Sarania's claims that Assamese is in peril in tghe BTC region, Daimary stated that Assamese and Bodo are still the legal languages. "What else does one want? Even the signboards are being written in the language. In all the places in the region, Assamese is the most important. Even people from other communities speak only in Assamese. If there are demands for more safety safeguards for the language, we can always address it after the election is over."
