Will discontinue Corona updates as "life has returned to pre-COVID times": Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Assam Health, Finance, and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma yesterday said that he will discontinue giving Corona updates via his Twitter handle as the number of cases decreased considerably and the recovery rate has fallen below 0.5%.

In a tweet, Sarma informed that the Corona updates will now come from the official handle of the National Health Mission (NHM) Assam as "life has returned to pre-COVID times." Notably, yesterday saw the students from the lower classes return to their schools for the first time since the pandemic hit our shores.

"For 270+ days, I've shared Covid-19 updates. With a positivity rate of below 0.5%, & considering life is back to pre-Covid times including opening of schools & colleges, I shall discontinue the same from today except for special information. Now updates will come from @nhm_assam," he wrote in a tweet.

In another tweet, the senior Minister lauded the health officials who have been engaged against the dreaded virus from the frontlines. "Gratitude!
