Speaking exclusively to InsideNE reporter regarding the alliance with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Baruah said: “As the State president Ranjit Dass has informed, at the present stage, we don’t have need of an alliance. But everything depends on the Central Committee’s decision. The state leaders have informed the centre about the pros and cons of the alliance. So, whatever decision is taken by the Centre, it will be accepted. At the present time, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the state party president have already clarified on the alliance issue with AGP thus, I don’t believe there should be any more controversy regarding the matter.”
“Our party’s stand is very clear on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. We have also mentioned it in our pre-election advertisements, so we are clear that even in near future, we will be firm with the decision on Citizenship Bill for the interest of the indigenous people of Assam,” he added.”
