Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi on Monday said the 46 organisations, which called for a 12-hour Assam bandh on Tuesday, would not call of the bandh.
His assertion was in the context of the threat issued by the state government. The Sarbananda Sonowal government had warned of arresting the bandh supporters.
Gogoi said, “Not just 46 but 60 organizations are supporting the bandh. Bandh do harm the economy of the state but the decision of the organisations will not be revoked for the sake of the indigenous people. If the government orders to prohibit the bandh, it will not be forgiven”.
The KMSS leader said the state government would be held solely responsible for any untoward incident during the bandh period. He said the bandh was not against the proposed conclave, called by some Bengali organisations, in Guwahati on November 17. It is against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, he clarified.
However, now a section of people have raised a question asking whether the Minister will be present at the Secretariat or not as the government has ordered everyone in the state to continue with their jobs normally and be present at their workplace.
