Youth, who made offensive remark on Facebook, arrested

A youth, who had posted an offensive comment on Facebook, has been arrested. The post had triggered a communal flare-up in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district leaving some people injured.

The arrested youth has been identified as Aziz Khan. The police were trying to find out his motive behind posting the comment on the social media platform. Three others were also apprehended in connection with the violence.

Aziz had posted a statement on Facebook against a particular community.

Doom Dooma areas remained on the boil since Thursday after a clash broke out between people belonging to two communities over the alleged “communal” post. There was another incident of communal violence in neighbouring Borhapjan.
