Heartthrob of Assam, Zubeen Garg while attending a programme at Ahatguri expressed his regret over his decision to sing for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the Lok Sabha election campaign of 2016.
The sensational singer made the statement, “I feel that singing for the BJP was my mistake and I’ve asked people to return back the money they paid. But I will pay it to the general public, if I give it to them, they will again misuse it for their purpose.”
Claiming himself to be a follower of socialism and being vocal against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, Zubeen Garg asked everyone to “Stand up and Rise up against the system.”
Zubeen later attended the All Assam Students’ Union office where he addressed the media and urged the people of Assam to stay united against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. He also announced for a series of protest against the Bill to be started from Tezpur on Thursday on the occasion of Silpi Diwas.
