Zubeen Garg case: Court defers Shyamkanu Mahanta's bail hearing to May 22
The court has deferred the bail hearing of Shyamkanu Mahanta in the Zubeen Garg case to May 22. Both defence and prosecution will use the extra time to prepare their submissions.

The bail hearing of accused Shyamkanu Mahanta in connection with the case related to singer Zubeen Garg was deferred to May 22 following proceedings held at the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, presided over by Judge Mitali Thakur, on May 15.
According to Advocate Jiaul Kamar, who briefed the media after the hearing, the court directed the investigating agency to submit the case diary before the next date of hearing.
He further informed that Mahanta’s legal team is expected to file a special affidavit on May 18 in connection with the bail proceedings.
During the hearing, arguments from both sides regarding the bail plea were presented before the court. The prosecution also sought the submission of additional case-related documents.
The matter is linked to the September 19 incident associated with the Zubeen Garg case. The court will continue hearing the bail plea on May 22 after examining the case diary and other submissions.
Meanwhile, in a significant development in the case last month, the fast-track court on April 30 had rejected the bail plea of accused Shyamkanu Mahanta, marking a key turning point in the ongoing legal proceedings.
