Guwahati, 16 January 2019:
Assam’s singing heartthrob Zubeen Garg has announced that he will be observing ‘Sankalpa Day’ on the occasion of Shilpi Diwas on January 17 in Tezpur to protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
In association with Kolaguru Artists’ Foundation, the singer has invited other artists of the state to join him in the protest against the Citizenship Bill.
In a Facebook post, Zubeen shared the details of the ‘Sankalpa Day’ and wrote “In the name of Assam, let us unite”.
Previously on January 13, the singer wrote, “Dear Sarbananda Sonowal Da, Wrote a letter to you few days back. Guess you are too busy counting the black flags to respond. So, can I get the votes back that you earned using my voice in 2016? I am ready to refund the remuneration.”
Prior to this, Zubeen also wrote and open letter to CM Sonowal urging him to immediately scrap the Citizenship Bill.
