30,000 of 37,000 flood-hit families in Sivasagar received Rs 15,000 aid: Akhil Gogoi

Around 30,000 of the 37,000 flood-affected families in Sivasagar constituency have received a one-time financial assistance of Rs 15,000 each, MLA Akhil Gogoi said on Friday, August 28.

Gogoi said he would meet Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday evening to discuss the compensation due to flood-affected people in Sivasagar.

The MLA said several flood-affected families were yet to receive adequate assistance and called for proper compensation for those affected by the floods.

He warned that if the affected people did not receive sufficient relief and assistance, an agitation would be launched in the coming days.

Gogoi has been vocal about the difficulties faced by flood-affected residents of Sivasagar and has sought adequate compensation and relief measures from the state government.
