The 59th Foundation Day celebrations of Ledo Central Namghar began on May 28 in Assam’s coal town of Ledo under the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly Constituency, with the start of the four-day annual Holy Bhagavat Paath programme in a spiritual and festive atmosphere.

The religious programme, which will continue till May 31, witnessed participation from thousands of devotees who gathered at the Namghar premises amid chants of Hari Naam and traditional uruli sounds.

The four-day celebration was formally inaugurated by Tarun Gogoi, President of the Ledo Central Namghar Management Committee, through the hoisting of the religious flag in the presence of devotees.

Dekha Satradhikar of Sri Sri Banga Satra, Prabhu Prem Narayan Goswami, ceremonially lit the inaugural lamp, while Namghar Hatola Pushpa Gogoi and Co-Hatola Loknath Konwar installed the sacred Bhagavat with religious rituals.

The Bhagavat Paath programme was formally inaugurated by Purnananda Dehingia, President of the Margherita Co-District Joint Namghar Platform.

Spiritual personalities Anil Chutia and Jeevban Saikia are serving as the chief reciters of the Bhagavat during the programme. Prabhu Prem Narayan Goswami also led Naam Prasanga as Naamcharya, drawing devotees into devotional prayers and Hari Naam.

According to the celebration committee, the major attraction of the event will be the traditional Bhaona performance scheduled for the final day of the programme.

On the night of May 31, a Mahapurushiya-style Bhaona titled “Dadheechi Muni Asthidaan and Vritrasur Badh” will be staged by local artistes and playwrights, generating excitement among residents of the Ledo area.

The celebration committee stated that devotees from across Margherita Co-district and various parts of Assam are expected to attend the programme over the next few days.

Organisers have invited people from all communities to participate in the religious events and receive blessings and holy prasad at the Namghar premises.
