60 per cent of people in Assam against NDA: Congress leader Bhupen Borah

Ahead of the Lok Sabha election, Congress leader Bhupen Borah claimed that 60 per cent of Assam's population is against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

On seat-sharing among opposition parties for Lok Sabha elections Assam Congress President Bhupen Kumar Borah says, "Seat-sharing plan is underway, to continue even after filing of nominations. AAP has declared 3 candidates and we are requesting them to reduce the number of candidates. They are thinking about it....I can claim that 60% of people (in Assam) are against NDA now."

Further, the Congress leader claims that with the AAP, the Congress is following two designs- in Delhi, Congress will fight in three seats and AAP will fight in four seats. In Punjab Congress and AAP will go solo and fight in all seats, in order not to give space to the opposition.

Earlier this month, BJP leader Nalin Kohli responded to the seat-sharing arrangement between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress Party speaking on the intricate political dynamics at play ahead of upcoming elections.

Kohli stated several key points regarding the implications of this alliance, providing insights into the current state of affairs within the political landscape.

Firstly, Kohli highlighted the Congress Party's willingness to assume a subordinate role in various states, recognizing its limited political clout compared to regional players.

Furthermore, Kohli dispelled any notions of a unified opposition front at the national level, asserting that seat understandings between parties like AAP and Congress are localized and contingent upon state-specific considerations.

Addressing the recent controversies surrounding AAP, particularly the allegations of corruption and misconduct, Kohli stated the declining credibility of Arvind Kejriwal's party. The ongoing liquor and excise scam in Delhi, resulting in the incarceration of several key AAP figures, has cast a shadow over the party's reputation.
