A village comes together to rescue elephant calf in Assam's Kaliabor

You might be about to witness one of the most beautiful sights in nature — a group of villagers coming together to rescue a helpless wild elephant calf trapped in a pit.

Amid the continuing human-elephant conflict across Assam, residents of Sekoni in Kaliabor came together to rescue a wild elephant calf that had remained trapped near the Shil Khorong Shiva Temple throughout the night.

The calf, which was reportedly roaming with its mother, accidentally fell into the pit and became trapped. Local residents spotted the distressed animal in the morning and immediately began efforts to rescue it.

The rescue operation drew attention for the compassion shown by the local residents towards the wild animal. They worked together to safely bring the calf out of the pit and help it return to the wild.

Forest department personnel were also present at the site during the rescue.

The efforts of the local residents and nature lovers have since been widely appreciated, with members of the public praising their compassion and commitment towards wildlife.
