AASU stages protest in Assam's Morigaon against electricity tariff hike, burns effigy of power department

The All Assam Students Union (AASU) staged a protest in Morigaon town on November 7 against the increase in electricity tariffs, demanding an immediate withdrawal of the decision.

The protest was organised by the Morigaon Sadar unit of AASU following a statewide call by the students body.

During the demonstration, protesters burnt an effigy of the electricity department and raised slogans against the Assam government and the power department, expressing their opposition to the tariff hike.

The protesters demanded that the decision to increase electricity charges be withdrawn at the earliest.
