<p>The protest was organised by the Morigaon district unit of AASU as part of a statewide agitation called by the student body.<br>
 </p>

<p>The protesters demanded immediate steps to curb the prices of petrol, diesel, cooking fuel, medicines and other essential commodities.<br>

<p>Carrying banners, placards and symbolic LPG cylinders, the protesters marched through the town raising slogans against the government over inflation and rising living costs.<br>
 </p>

<p>AASU leaders alleged that the government had remained inactive despite the continued increase in prices of daily-use items, causing hardship to common people.<br>
 </p>

<p>The student body warned that the agitation would be intensified in the coming days if effective measures were not taken to control inflation and provide relief to the public.</p>
